Marianas Open March 15, 2014! My Experience as a spectator and not a competitor!

Wow.
I’ve learned so much today.

First: Congratulations to my team Purebred BJJ for winning 1st Place in Adults and Kids!

I am so glad to have witnessed such courageous hearts put it all on the mats! Such a sight to see!

Now, it’s Interesting how much I’ve learned, even though I did not compete.

But to sum it all up, I think I learned to be more attentive to my team mates, and be there for them, before, during, and after the match.

And some side lessons were simply these:

1. Be light-hearted about the results. Understand things happen for a reason and look forward to your bright future. It’s understandable that your first tourneys are gonna be disappointing if you lose, but don’t allow yourself to be stuck in the past. That will not help you move forward.

2. Focus on what to do next. In the match, you gotta be aware of what to do after you do the thing you did…. hmm… hope ya’ll can understand that.

Simply, you need to be able to connect things. Like… Even more simply, use your head, and of course- don’t “think too much”.

I guess you could say it’s like a go with the flow kinda view, but… really- it’s a result of preparation and drilling that you’re able to connect your moves into a variation and a game plan.

That’s all I got right now!
Feel free to give your opinion!

Below is a photo of my teammates warming up!

I love them all and I am so glad to have them.

I’m the one in the blue shirt and jeans who is angled weird.
